Light on the land — and built to last

Beautiful buildings and landscapes are simply the ones we want to return to. Most of the time, the landscape is the thing our clients were drawn to, and it is our role to give them the most amazing views out, while impacting the exterior place as little as possible. However, sometimes a family compound or gathering point requires some scale and grandeur. Whatever the size, we try to make homes and businesses that are graceful, elegant, and light on the land.

Zander Auerbach

AIA, RA — Principal

Zander brings 16 years of experience in residential design, construction management, and advanced building systems. His work is guided by a commitment to nature-integrated modern architecture and a deep respect for the landscape.

Prior to founding the firm, Zander worked at Maryann Thompson Architects and the MIT Media Lab, where he managed large-scale R&D and construction projects with budgets ranging from $2M to $115M.

Rodrigo Novelo Pastrana

Rodrigo Novelo Pastrana

Architect

Rodrigo brings an international perspective to architecture, with experience across residential, commercial, healthcare, and mixed-use sectors. His work is guided by a commitment to thoughtful design, technical precision, and spaces that balance performance with clarity and refinement.

Prior to joining the team, Rodrigo worked at Buro Happold and NGB Arquitectos, where he contributed to design development, technical coordination, and project delivery across multidisciplinary teams.

Kate Vitvitskaia

Kate Vitvitskaia

Designer

Kate brings over 13 years of experience in residential design and project development, with clients across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Her work balances architectural precision with buildability, and a strength in Revit-based design development and documentation.

Emily Ottinger

Emily Ottinger

Architect

Emily is a registered architect licensed in Maine, Massachusetts, and New York with 18 years of professional experience. Her practice spans academic, commercial, residential, museum, and life sciences buildings.

An accomplished painter, Emily brings a fine arts sensibility to every project. She has worked at Peter Eisenman Architects in New York, Nasrine Seraji in Paris, and Ann Beha Architects in Boston.

Lincoln Old Town Hall
Our Office

Lincoln Old Town Hall — 25 Lincoln Road, Lincoln, MA.

We work from the Lincoln Old Town Hall, a remarkable building completed in 1848 for $2,200. At its first Town Meeting that December, the community resolved it would be open without charge for "Political, Temperance, Antislavery & Peace Meetings." Lincoln's first high school operated on the ground floor beginning in 1852, and the town's inaugural public library opened here in the early 1870s.

When a new town hall was built in 1884, the original passed to private hands. In 1891 it was moved downhill and converted into a general store and post office. In 1918, owner Charles Sumner Smith moved the entire building to its present site at 25 Lincoln Road — a feat accomplished over several days while the store remained open for business.

In 1931, Henry Ford sought to acquire the building for his Greenfield Village museum in Michigan. Smith refused. Ford built a replica instead. The original remained in Lincoln, which is where it belongs. A Martin Luther King Jr. memorial service was held here in 1968. We are glad to be its tenants.

Our neighbor downstairs is The Little General — a curated shop carrying housewares, vintage finds, and specialty provisions. Worth a visit.
